Instead of using the start menu, I have always used my
desktop to run applications using shortcuts to websites,
executables etc. After downloading a microsoft update
months ago, I noticed the icons to my floppy and cd drive
shortcuts no longer work. When trying to access these
drives from the desktop icon, a window will pop up saying
the drive cannot be found and when closed another pops up
asking if I want to associate this program with such and
such path (usually an old game address). Deleting the
icons and making new icons changes nothing.
I can execute the devices from "my computer" so I know
they function correctly.
I built a new computer for my son and hooked up for the
first time last night. After downloading critcal updates,
the same thing happened to the new computer.
I asked this question in a forum when I originally had
the problem and was told that microsoft was aware of the
problem and was working on a fix.
Can anyone help?
Thanks...gary moore
