Drive missing in My Computer

I just completed a clean reinstall of my XP operating system.
My second hard drive (drive1) does not appear in "My Computer".
It does appear in "Disk management", with its name but no drive letter and
no partion.
It also appears in "Device Manager".
In "Disk management" the OS drive (drive 0) is listed as healthy (system).
The other drive is listed as healthy (active).
What's my next move?

Peter, how do you have the second drive configured. Try installing it as
Master on the Secondary IDE channel.

Assign a drive letter to it from Disk manager.

Thanks Ross.
I was not able to assign a drive letter, however, drive letter confusion
seems to have been the problem. I noticed that scandisk was running at each
boot but not showing any problems. I installed Norton Disk Doctor, set it
to "fix", ran it and everything reappeared.
