Drive letters switched

I recently installed a second USB hard drive. Before I did
that, the older one had drive letter "G". After I plugged
in the new one, the system made it "H".

That was fine with me, but the first time I rebooted, the
old drive mysteriously became "H" and the new one "G". That
reversal survived a couple of additional reboots and also an
upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows XP.

If I can't reverse the flip, I'm going to have to change
quite a few addresses from "G:\" to "H:\". Is there a way I
can reassign the drive letters?

By the way, I have Partition Magic 8.0, but the only time
I've tried to use it, it produced disastrous results --
really screwed up my internal hard drive -- and I've been
afraid to try it again.

Use Windows (disk manager) to reassign the drive letters..

Start -> Help and Support
Search for:

Look for the "Assign, change, or remove a drive letter" link and select it.
