I have two cd drives and one diskette drive. When I put
in a cd or disk I receive "D:\ is not accessible
Incorrect function." Also on "E" and "A" drives.

I can put in a music CD and Windows Media Player will come
up and the CD will play.

I put in a data CD and the drives will not work.

Only thing different loaded into computer is Norton
Antivirus 2004 installed yesterday, but on our other
computers data CD's work.

Same thing happened to me six weeks ago with Norton
Internet Security, which includes NAV 2004. Did you
upgrade from an earlier version of NAV?

Hey... I too have had these problems... none of my optical drives are
working properly under w2k (but still bootable)
I've been to busy to troubleshoot.

I never thought of this connection until seeing this thread... but it
_does_ seem to coincide with upgrading to NAV 2004.

Has anyone else had this problem?
....or is this just a strange coincidence?

Chris

I too have had this problem...did you find a solution yet??

GO to the Norton site and search for the Error message you get when you
can't read your drive. Follow the instructions in the Article.

Thanks
I had gone to the Norton site but was too busy looking for a way t
contact them.
They suggested several solutions but the one that worked for me was t
update my Nero cd burning software.
Thanks again

As soon as I read this message, I ripped out all of my Nero / Ahead
applications... and .... VOILA!
CD drive working again.

Before I had CD burner inaccessible... so why keep the burning software,
right?
NOW, I have WORKING CD burner, but (again) no burning software!
....alas...

Thanks for posting your solution, Theresa.
It apparently was the source of my CD problems also.

Chris

Thankyou for posting back the results.

....oops.... didn't wait long enough to post results :(

After rebooting... a few times... CD drive is back to it's old tricks.
....plus... no burning software :((

Oh well... I'll just keep watching for other suggestions.
