I just downloaded and installed, then rebooted. I still only have 5
Dreamscene Content items in Desktop Backgounds - I'm sure I had 5
before...or am I "Dreaming".....?

You have to go back to Windows Update again to get 3 more scenes after you
update DreamScene itself and reboot.

I d/l the initial DS update, reboot, but cannot find DS option for desktop.
Isn't it supposed to be Desktop - Personalize - Desktop Background?

I had it at one point.

TIA

Yes, it should be listed there in the drop-down menu as "Windows Dreamscene
Content"
Do a search for one the original ones under vid8897 (.mpg) to see if they've
moved somewhere. I guess you could download them all again.
If you got them originally it would also be listed under View Update
History.

Peter,
Thanks for the quick reply. I did a search - no results.
I uninstalled/reinstalled all the DS upgrades, rebooted - nothing.
I suspect I did something to cause this situation.
I am always messing w/things I should not be messing with;-)
Let the investigation begin.

Bad, bad Bchat...LOL Good luck fixing it. I think I've only reinstalled
my Vista about 10 times so far....;-)

What good is a computer if you can't mess with it -
thank God for Acronis True Image 10 :)

Heh heh.....what you should do is look for "Installed Updates" (lower left
of the Update window) and uninstall any Windows Dreamscene - the original
one will be the preview one and will be right at the bottom most likely and
then the more recent ones until they are all gone..
Reboot and then try again.

Been there - done that - TWICE - I still don't have Dream Scene.
DS is much like my 3rd wife - just not meant to be part of my life it seems.
Good news is, I keep my desktop a solid black.
I don't need no stinkin' Dreama Sceenie

Problem solved -
My already mentioned ex-wife must have gone into the Windows Features
setting and TURNED OFF Dream Scene.
I assume she assumed it was part of the divorce settlement - it WASN'T.
I turned it on - did the update, d/l, install, reboot deal, and all is well.
The water fall is very nice, as is the one with the rolling ball bearing,
or whatever it is.

Next time I get married, I'm including Windows Features Settings in the
pre-nup.
Its the right thing to do
;-)

Control Panel>Programs and Features>Installed Updates
In left column - "Turn Windows Features on or off"
(don't tell you wife - trust me on this one)

That sounds good. (I didn't even know that you could turn the darn things
off....LOL)
