Downloads - Won't Prompt to Save AS

When I try to download a file from Internet Explorer
version 6.0.2800.1106 SP1 with Windows 2000 it doesn't
prompt me to "Save As." It just downloads the file into my
Temporary Internet Files temp directory. Is there a way to
correct this without reinstalling Windows 2000? I have
another laptop with Windows 2000 and it prompts to "Save
As" when I try to download a file. I can right click on
the download link and Click on Save As that way, but that
is a pain. I want it to "automatically prompt" to
the "Save As" dialog box rather than automatically
download into my Temporary Internet Files Temp directory!

Please help!! I tried reinstalling (repair)Explorer 6.0
and SP1 to no avail. I've tried many other things as well,
but to still to no avail. I don't want to have reinstall
all of Windows 2000. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Try:
Depending on your OS...
From Windows Explorer> View> Folder options
OR Tools> Folder options
OR Ctrl Panel> Folder options then File Types. Select [file type]> Advanced.
Put a check by
"Confirm open after download."

Thanks for the suggestion. But I don't think that will fix
it, but I'll try.

I went to Explorer - Tools - Folder Options - File Types
Tab - Advanced. It has tons of files listed there, the
many files I reviewed already do have a check mark next
them in the "Confirm Open After Download" Box.

But the files extensions I usually download such
as .exe, .zip, etc. aren't listed. Do I need to add them?
