Downloads stop after 3-4 min. just hangs there

Can anyone help me I have two computers both are hooked
up to verizon DSL and one has no prob. downloading
something that takes a lone time but the other one will
not download anyhting that takes more than a couple min.
it just hangs there so I have to stop downloading what
ever I'm downloading and thats this computer will not
download anything that takes time Help!!

It may have a dodgy nic. Do a hardware diagnosis on the nic.
