downloads and Excel problem

MS Excel download--can not open this .XLS file in
Internet Explorer 6.0. I have MS Works Suite 2004 loaded
on my computer (Windows XP system) but it apparently does
not have the MS Excel program needed to open the .XLS
file. Any way to open this file without purchasing Excel?

According to http://www.microsoft.com/products/works/products/works.asp
Works 7.0 should be able to open Excel files. Can you right-click the XLS
file and save it before opening it?
