I go to a site & rt click the .MP3 file so marked, then
Save as Target & up comes the SaveAs box with the file
shown but now shown as .MPAG This MPAG file will play
clearly in my computer speakers through the computer
software but I transferred it & burned it onto a CD to
play in my portable CD MP3 player but the sound is
distorted. Why would the file extn change? is there a way
I can correct this or do I need to convert the MPAG to MP3
I have an Athlon 2400 xp with 256mg ram Win XP with MSN
browser my only alternative if this cannot be changed is
to play the files in my computer & record them in MP3
form with a program I have Can anyone help me please?

This is not exactly the right newsgroup to get help with stealing music on the
Internet. I suggest you do a Google search for a more appropriate group. This
group is here to help people who have problems installing or working with
Microsoft Windows XP (hence the name microsoft.public.windowsxp.general).

Good luck in your quest to attract a lawsuit from the RIAA,

John, stop accusing people of stealing things! He may have rights to that
music. You accused me of something similar once. Don't assume, and answer
his question.

Of course he has rights to it, Steve! Who died and made you my conscience?
Let it go. I'd be willing to bet you pretty much anything you've got the guts
to put up that, that he is illegally downloading songs. Ya' think maybe the
"right-click, Save Target As" is a clue. That and the fact that he has no clue
how to use a CD burner. He's 10-14 yrs. old and he's putting his parents at
risk of an RIAA lawsuit and I think you know it as well.
Once again I paraphrase Shakespeare for you(the original referred to the female
gender)..."Methinks the gentleman doth protest overmuch".

AND this is not the appropriate group to whine about MP3s not playing in my
Walkman, is it?

Kisses,
John

I have never heard of an MPAG extension. I don't suppose you meant MPEG?
Anyhow, sounds like you need to convert it to an mp3 like you said.
