Downloading mail using Windows Mail

Phil

I'm going mad with Windows Mail. I have checked my settings (i.e. port
number, server authentication required, etc) and all are correct. I hit send
and receive with no error messages. I send an email, and by connecting to my
ISP account, I can see it (albeit in my inbox which is strange). However, my
inbox won't download to Windows Mail. Through my ISP, I disable the
forwarding of POP email and save changes. Try send/receive in Windows Mail
and get error messages. Through my ISP I once more enable the forwarding of
POP email and save changes. Try send/receive and hey presto download my
emails. Great. However, it then stops working again (i.e. its a one off
solution - unless I keep disabling & enabling the forwarding of POP email of
course). Has anyone come across this before or has a solution????????????

Hope to speak to someone soon.

What error messages do you get?

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
