Downloading Java 2

Hi,
i've got Windows XP Home Edition on my system. The
Setup Launcher for J2RE 1.4.2 is taking a lot of
time...so i cancelled the setup. i want to know is
WindowsXP compatible with Java...and if i'm doing
something wrong

You can get a JVM from http://java.sun.com/getjava
 
yes it is, you may have too many things running for the
download, either turn off a few things or wait till there
servers are not busy.

That is the Sun version of Java, and it is quite OK on Windows XP. It is
however approaching a 12MB download, so it will take a long time on dial
up - something like 40 minutes on a decent connection
