Hi. Please can you help ? I've tried to download various files from the
Internet ie Ebay Turbo Lister. But when I try to download I get an error
message saying Windows Internet Explorer was unable to download the file, the
connection to the server was reset. Please can you tell me why this is ? I
have tried disabling firewalls and various security protocols but with no
success.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop running Windows Vista with Norton Internet
Security. My Internet connection is wireless using a Netgear wireless router.

What happens if you completely disable NIS? Choose a trusted site for your
test.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I tried disabling NIS and then tried downloading Turbo Lister again from Ebay ( a trusted site ). But still the same error message keeps appearing.

Hi Zakorman. Before a downloaded file is transferred to your chosen
folder location, its parts, so to speak, are downloaded to the Temporary
Internet Files folder.

Try this. Go to IE7 > Tools > Internet Options, and, on the
General tab, click on Settings, under the "Browsing history" section. In
the new window, next to "Disk space to use", try putting it at an
amount at least half of the highest number of what it says as
"(Recommended)"; for example, if it says 50- 250MB, try at least 125MB (the
default is 50, which is usually enough for browsing). Click OK.

Back on the General tab, under "Browsing history" again, click on Delete,
then click on Temporary Internet Files. Then try a download again.

Hi dean-dean. Many Thanks for your reply to my question about downloading
from the internet. Having tried what you said to do, I am still not able to
download. The message still appears " the connection to the server was reset.
Could it be anything to do with the security set-up on the wireless router ??
