Downloading E-Mails Are Staggered

I recently purchased a new computer with XP Professional.

Up to a week ago, emails donwloading on Outlook Express came one after the
other without interruption.

Since last week, when downloading for the first time each day, the first
few come down, then a blank Outlook Express box appears over the usual OE
box, hangs there for 15 seconds or so, then disappears, and the download
continues. This happens every so often until all are downloaded.

If I click on this blank box, a mesage pops up stating that OE had stopped
responding, but then it re-starts as usual without any action on my part,
and continues on until every email is down.

I have checked the next e-mail to download after each stoppage, but all they
seem to have in common is that they are usually not plain text e-mails.

I did send myself twenty palin text e-mails to see what would happen, but
all came 20 down without interruption, so that was not much help!

The only thing I recall doing is altering some of the OPTIONS but I cannot
now be sure which ones I may have altered.

1) Ask in an Outlook Express newsgroup, like
news://msnews.micorosft.com/microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
2) Visit http://www.insideoe.com/

Hi Brian

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply so quickly.

In your e-mail communication to us, you wrote.....

1) Ask in an Outlook Express newsgroup, like
news://msnews.micorosft.com/microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
2) Visit http://www.insideoe.com/

Our reply is as follows.......

Unfortunately, the newsgroup listed is not carried on the server here.

Is there another Outlook Express newsgroup?

I have also looked at the site you mention, but it does not deal with my
problem.

To be honest, I feel I have ticked something or altered something, but
cannot work out what I did!

Old age I think.
