Downloading E-mail Issues with Port Interuption

I am having a problem with my Outlook whenever I Send/Recieve. IT shows
progress of downloading the e-mail but then nothing arrives in the inbox. I
continue to receive a error message such as this:


Task 'mail.xxxxxx.com (1) - Sending and Receiving' reported error
(0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this
problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service
provider (ISP).'


We have tried changing the port number as well as resetting the entire
system. There is no virus or worm present on the computer and the firewall
has been bypassed. I still have problems downloading the mail. Any
suggestions??

Don't change the port number. Typically only one works (usually 110 for
receiving & 25 for sending)

Have you always had this issue or is it something new? Can you at least PING
the mail server? Are you having trouble sending & receiving?
