downloading drivers from internet to install them on another compu

I bought a used compaq Evo D510 USDT computer which has become very slow with
time. I want to reinstall windows xp but I don''t have drivers CD. I can
download the drivers on another computer (Dell) and then copy the drivers
files on CD so that I can use this CD to install drivers on compaq computer,
Is it ok, can it be done? and when burning a CD, perhaps I will be choosing
the option of data CD in Nero Express. right or wrong. thanks for help.

Yes, in theory, it can be done. PC repair people do that all the time.

Yes, you can install downloaded Compaq drivers from a data CD.
Install the Chipset drivers first, then reboot.
Upon the restart, XP will find some other devices.
Note - If you look in Device Manager, before you reinstall, you can see the
current Display Adapter, Sound Controller, and Network Adapter. You'll need
drivers for those, from Compaq (preferably), also, if they're original
equipment.

Now another problem has arisen, I downloaded all the drivers and burned them
to a CD.
When I tried to install windows xp on compaq, system told me that version of
xp already installed on compaq is newer than the XP version on the CD. and if
u continue files and settings can not be recovered.
one more question when I click the link 'READ AND RATE THE RESPONSE' in my
email in Internet explorer a blank window opens while in Mozilla Firefox the
right window opens so that I can read the answer i got for my question.
