Downloader with resuming?

I have some files that have not been downloaded correctly, for example a
file is only 2mb instead of 3. Is there a utility to continue the download
without redownloading the file from the beginning? Like the feature that
GetRight offers.

The already broken downloads - no, there is no such software.
Software that resumes support when a download fails - search for
"download manager" in a.c.f. with Google Groups. There are dozens.

Well, I know there are, but unfortunately this very specific feature I
have found only in GetRight.

Maybe you can try Octopus. Just unzip the Octopus.zip file in a folder
of your choice. Designate the download folder and copy the partially
downloaded file to this folder. Choose download with a single thread.

Start download and Octopus will ask you whether you want to use the
already downloaded part and continue (resume).

Octopus is no longer being developed but should be available in many
servers. Do and ftp search or look up Google.

In three years of using Octopus I have not lost a single file, some of
them large with several resumed attempts. The only drawback is that it
does not filter what goes in to the clip board and does not keep a log
of the downloads.

Where do you find Octopus? I've tried a bunch of links, and they dont
work. The developer's site seems to be down too.

Sorry I missed the step about entering the URL for the original source
of the partially downloaded file.
