Download Window!

Hi.

I have a problem with the 'download window'! When downloading via 'Internet
Explorer' you are always presented with a 'download window'. This window
asks if you would like to 'open' 'save' 'cancel' the download.

At there bottom of this window there is a tick box that gives you the option
of 'Do Not Show This Window Again'. I ticked this option, so the 'download
window' doesn't appear anymore, all downloads happen automatically as soon as
I click on them. I would now like to see the 'download window' again, so
that it does give me the option to 'open' 'save' 'cancel', but I don't know
how to restore this option??

Any ideas?????????

Open IE>Tools>Internet Options. In Security Tab, click on "Customized level". Go to "Download" sections and check "Desactivate" for the third item.

Bladerunner,

Following the steps Jose gave, go the Downloads section again. The first
choice under that should say "Automatic prompting for file downloads" Make
sure you click next to Enable and click ok to exit out.

To get the download dialog box, enable the "confirm open after download"
option for that filetype:

Open Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File Type tab
Scroll down to locate the file type. Highlight the filetype click the
"Advanced" button.
Then check the option "confirm open after download".

Hi Ramesh!

Thanks for you suggestion, but it's the 'File Download' window that I need,
not the confirm open after download" window.

I have tried what you said, but it doesn't work??

If you did this very recently, try doing a system restore to a time before you made the change, then see if that helps.

i posted a similar problem today (titled "download files/programs").
the suggestions today did not solve the problem.

system restore (which i understand helped bladerunner) is a bit irrelevant
because i suspect the problem started with sp2 installation.

could i re-install sp2 ? any other suggetsions?

Concerning the "check to not show window again" option in many information
windows. It would be nice if there was a central place to uncheck these.

You're welcome.
