Download error?

Hello, I have been trying to download MSN messenger 6.0
and not having any luck, It appears data transfer is
taking place. I believe its the install window that is
not coming up, all I get is a blank window with a square
in the upper left corner, inside this square is a circle,
square and triangle. Hope I have explained this ok? Any
help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

How are you downloading? What type of connection do you have to the
Internet? Where (what website) are you trying to download this program?
Does the problem happen with other downloads? Please post back with
answers for help.

I'm using a dial up connection, 56K and its not
disconnection during the download. The site is from
Messenger MSN.com and the problem has happened with other

OK, so we've established that you're having trouble with other downloads
from other sites. Are you running a current antivirus (with updated
definitions)? What does a scan show? Remove spyware/malware with tools
like Spybot Search & Destroy and/or Ad-aware. Spyware can definitely
negatively impact your Internet connectivity. Empty your temporary and
Temporary Internet Files. When you are sure the machine is clean, does
the problem persist? If yes, then please post back with the results of
what you've done.

Hello again, I'm using MSN.com site, clicking on MSN
messenger 6.0 and the download button, I never get to the
part where it says to OPEN or SAVE. that is where the
blank screen appears. I use an dial up connection with a
56 modem and it has happened with other downloads from
other sites too. Thanks

I did a virus scan just before downloading, all showed
clean, also cleaned up all cookies and web pages too.
Not sure I understand the spy ware you mentioned but don't
think there is any?? Sorry, can't help there

No, I don't provide support by email for free. Ask in a newsgroup, get
answered in a newsgroup. I think the best thing for you to do is call a
good local computer repair person to come to your house and 1)
straighten out your machine; 2) give you a bit of training on how to
download, find things, etc. You'll be happier and things will work
better. Maybe someone else can get a good picture of what's wrong from
your posts, but I'm afraid I can't. Sometimes just a quick look at a
computer will tell a tech exactly what to do - it's quite a bit more
difficult in Usenet.
