Download emails from ig.com.br to Windows Mail

Good evening,
Today I tried to download my emails to Windows Mail. I got the following
error message:

Account: 'pop.ig.com.br', Server: 'pop.ig.com.br', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!',
Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90

Could anyone help?

The problem is that you are allowing your antivirus to mess with your email.
That is not recommended, for reasons explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

Chances are, AVG antivirus was installed with its default install option.
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select 'custom' install, which then
allows you to unselect installing its troublesome email scanning module.

While AVG is uninstalled, try Windows Mail again, just to verify that
the culprit has been found.

Hmmmm, I uninstalled AVG, uninstalled the account and reinstalled it, but
still it doesn't work. The message I get is:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.ig.com.br', Server:
'pop.ig.com.br', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

transfer my old messages from old PC to the new one..

You should reinstall AVG also, but do it the way that Gary explained
previously, by choosing the option of custom install when it is offered
during the install.

Hello Mac,
Great, your hint helped me. I just changed the server port numbers (465 for
outgoing mail (SMTP) and 995 for incoming mail (POP3) and activated "This
server requires a secure connection (SSL) on both and here we go, it works!
