Down loading files, etc.

I have a problem when trying to download files, for example, windows updates,
antivirus updates, etc. I have three other computers in my home and they
have no problem downloading

I can surf the web, but am unable to dowload anything. I took my laptop to
a coffee shop and was able to download everything.

I have windows XP media center. What can be the problem?

Sorry, my crystal ball is a little cloudy today and it refuses to
tell me what exactly happens when you attempt to download
files and what messages you see on the screen.
