i have 2 windows files in my c drive, how best do i first gather all the
correct info from both, delete both and then start with a brand new one. i
think having both uses double memory????
tks
don

Something to try,
Go to the windows CMD.exe,
Type Dir and compare the size and date of the two Windows directories,
If they are both the same, then just delete one of them.

Never believe in miracles,
Rely on them

i went start run then typed- cmd.exe then dir but see no info on the
second windows folder there

OK, use a different approach,
Right click Start and select Explore,
You should see WindowsXP (C:) that is normal,
Expand the file by clicking the + box
look for any other Windows files and if you see any, Right click and delete.
Good luck,

ah squire
can find second windows folder but when i do a quick check between the two
folders they do differ slightly so don't want to delete until i know its safe
to do so

One other place you might check,
On the Start-Run line, type MSCONFIG,
Click Boot.ini tab and click Check all Boot Paths.
It may or not tell you one of them is invalid.
