Double Press Lock??!

Everytime i press the same key twice the computer stops me from doing it for
about 5ish seconds... have i put some sort of lock on by mistake? please help
it really is very frustrating...

Check your accessibility settings (Start, type "accessibility")

I don't know, but you might take a look at
Control Panel - Ease of Access Center - Make the keyboard easier to use
to see if any of those settings are turned on.
