Until just recently, I have been able to double click to
open any file or folder on my computer. However now I
can not. Some folders will open with a double click,
some will not, and some files will also open with a
double click, while some will not.

When I right double click the drop down menu shows first
item as 'Search'. I have not had this problem when I
started using Windows-XP

I have checked my mouse settings, and they are all OK.

Any suggestions will be most welcom, as it now takes
longer to open some folders and files than before.

In any folder-containing window, go to Tools>Folder options... In the
dialog box, try switching the click options, then returning to the original
setting if it was what you had; or change it if it isn't. Another thing to
try is to click on the "Restore defaults" button. Apply and OK to close.
hopefully, these simple steps will reset things back to normal.

Thank you for this info. I had searched Kellys but was
unable to find the solution.
