dot net framework question

I had nearly insurmountable problems after installing 2.0. Many executable
programs that worked fine with 1.0 and 1.1 would report an error, C++
runtime error blaw blaw... and the programs just would not work until I
painstakingly uninstalled every facet of dot net framework 2.0!

My question is why is an update so full of errors allowed to be posted as a
regular update for windows XP?

I won't touch dot net 2.0 with a ten foot pole until your people fix it.Its
worse than any virus I've ever come across.

1) This is a NG *about* Microsoft's products, not a
message conduit *to* Microsoft.

2) Did you uninstall .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1?
They should have been left in place so that the
apps written for them could use them. The versions
are not mutually exclusive.

Install .NET Framework 1.0, then 1.1x, then 2.0, all should work after that.
..NET 2.0 is suprisingly better than the first two.

The order is unimportant as they are all
independent.
