When on the XP desktop with a DOS window active - is it
possible to do a Print Screen direct to the printer as one
would do in DOS? Or does this still have to go to the
clipboard and through the whole process as with other
print screens in ordinary windows programs windows?

As there isn't any DOS screen in XP I assume you mean the
Command Prompt screen. XP doesn't have DOS, it is not
written on or over DOS so doesn't have it. If you want to
print from the command prompt then type print and specify
the text file location and so on and it will print it.
Keep smiling.

Reading the question might be a good idea.

Frank, i dont know about programs to print it for you, but HyperSnap will
auto save them so you dont have to go and paste it into Paint everytime you
take a shot.

Using just the tools that come with Windows, you need to paste the captured
screen shot to an application that supports images. Then print.
