DOS network driver under DOS7, Win 98, command prompt only

Am wanting to get a bunch of older PCs able to ne networked under DOS
only.

RTSND.DOS is, I presume, the DOS driver.
Other files that came with the driver are:
RTL8139.NIF
OEMSETUP.INF
PROTOCOL.INI

-1- How do I get the driver installed?
-2- Does it matter which line in CONFIG.SYS it appears?
-3- Does DOS need the other files distributed with the DOS driver?
-4- If so, what do I do with them?
-5- If the driver is successfully installed, what should I be looking
ofr in MEM /D to confirm it is OK?

First off, microsoft.public.basic.dos is the wrong group for these
kind of questions.

This group is:
microsoft.public.BASIC.dos
NOT
microsoft.public.basic.DOS

Second off, you have never said WHAT version of WHAT kind of
networking you are trying to get running.

If you are trying to get windows 98 networking to work under dos,
forget it. AFAIK, it doesn't work. At least, I have never seen it
work, and have never tried.

If you are trying to get the networking from
"ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/Clients/MSCLIENT/" to work, run the
install program, and follow the instructions. They work just fine.

If you are trying to get something else running, consult with the
manufacturer of the product.

At <www.bootdisk.com> you can find several network bootfloppies. You can
download them and see how things work.
