Hi,

I am having memory problems with my computer. Secondly, when I try to use
the mem comand under the dos command prompt, I get the following error
message:

16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

Command Prompt - mem
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to
terminate the application.

I have received this a number of times with other apps I have run. Is there
something I can do to correct this?

Thanks,

Gary

MEM is no longer an accepted command in the Command (DOS) prompt
while using XP. The Command Prompt is not a true DOS, it is an emulator.
The below URL (website) lists DOS command accepted by XP.

That's funny. I have Windows XP professional with SP2 and mem works fine in
a dos window. You must be mistaken.

Start | Run | Copy and paste the following line:

%windir%\hh.exe ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\ntcmds.chm::/dos_diffs.htm

Click OK.

Scroll down to Unavailable MS-DOS Commands.

You won't see MEM on the list.
