doom 3

i installed doom3 this weekend and tried to play. it was playable but the
graphics was nothing like it was under win XP, should i install directX 9.0.
my system below


amd-4400 x2
4 gigs ddr400
250 gig seagate hd 7200rpm
geforce 7900gtx /512mb ram

Yeap I had the same problem, and if I'd do an recommend, it would select
almost the worst graphics for me. Now I run this game on "high" settings
back when I was using XP. My vid card is Raydeon x600 with 256MB memory.
Anyone knows how to fix this problem or DirectX 10 just isn't fully backward
compatible?
