These messages (not etc.) are randomly popping up on my desktop. If I press
OK, they go away, and there is not any minimize option. A virus perhaps, or
a problem with XP?

You most likely have spyware on your computer.
you can remove it by loading spybot which can be downloaded from
www.dowload.com. it is freeware and will also prevent spyware from being
installed in the first place.

Hi,

Trojan? Virus? Spyware? Tough to tell, but it isn't normal unless it's a
process you know you initiated.

1) Do a full system scan with your antivirus software after updating it to
the latest definitions. Using old definitions is like replacing your motor
oil with used motor oil - you aren't afforded any protection. You may want
to do this from Safe mode to minimize any interference.

2) Install and run Adaware from www.lavasoft.de
Install and run Spybot from www.safer-networking.org

3) Install and run Spyware Blaster from
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

4) Turn on the native firewall or install a third-party one (a third party
firewall will notify you of outgoing traffic as spyware programs "phone
home", the native one won't).

I have had this same problem. I doubt that this is spyware. There is a good chance it is a virus. Thus far, it has simply been an annoyance, but a resolution to this problem needs to be found quickly. The problem seems relatively new, as I have seen nothing on the Internet about it. even searching Google brings up one result. The three messages that are known to pop up are:"down," "done," and "ebn criss." Ebn criss is the least common, but usually when "dwn" pops up, "done" is soon to follow. There is a sequence, and I have noticed the pop ups mostly just when a program is opened (usually an Internet based program). I have a Cable connection and Windows XP Home Edition. Help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. I am not a frequent visitor, so please email me at the listed address.

Yes I had that problem, the link fixed it really appreciate it.
Another thing, I noticed the file had a prefetch. This is to let windows access it faster and to delete it just go to your prefetch folder and delete it, to do this:

1. Follow the manual deletion instructions given at http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/library/zzb/index.phtml

2 Then under your system folder (Explained at bootom of manual deletion section of link) access the prefetch folder.

3 delete the file labeled zzb.exe-(some numbers and stuff).

4 that clears that up good luck
