Domain name and registered website conflict.

There is a conflict between my network domain name and an internet domain name i own (as in they're exactly the same). If I set the domain controller as the preferred domain name server of the domain, I get an "Under Construction" error page when trying to access my website online but everything else is working perfectly. If I set my hub, for example, as the preferred domain name server i'll be able to access my website but i get all the problems of not having the DC as the DNServer such as long logon times, accessing the internet unneccessarily, not finding the domain in the "look in...", "Add" and "Find" dialog boxes, etc.....

So i need to be able to access my website which has a domain name of, let's say "xyz.com" from my internal network domain which has the same name "xyz.com". The only solution ive been able to come up with was renaming my domain which as I understand is a long and risky process. Is there an easier way to do this??

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I achieved this by adding static dns entry for www.domain.com in my DCs DNS
to point to the external web site. Obviously this won't work if you need
(why?) to access the web site without the www.

Thx Simon, makes sense but how do I add a static dns entry in the DC? And do I HAVE to type www. before the website's domain name?

To be honest I can't remember exactly how you add the entry but it is
straightforward if you open the DNC MMC.

At the moment domain.com in the DNS points to your internal network, so you
will need do use a sub-domain to point to the web site - it doesn't have to
be www but it needs to be something.
