Domain Login problem

I have a windows 2000 server (SP 4) as domain. When I make a Windows XP prof. Machine to login to this domain, it takes around 4-5 minutes to apply personal settings and security. I want to redice this time. Pls help.

Do you have DNS set up on the DC? Is XP pointing to this DNS server?
