I have a 40GB hard drive with 10GB empty space. I want to
backup the whole 30GB. I have another hard drivr installed
but it's almost full. What other types of media that I can
use to do full backups. I also have a CDrom and a CDRW
installed.

Investigate an imaging utility. Many can write directly to removable
media. Here's one choice...

You can get rid of anything unnecessary on both of your HDDs and utilize
that space. You can burn a ton of CDs or you can purchase a DVD
burner..which hold a little over 6 times as much as a CD. Or you could also
purchase another HDD, remove the non-OS HDD from your system and replace it
with your new one. Then move everything you want to keep on your OS-HDD to
your new one, and format, partition and reinstall your OS on the one you've
just backed up from.

Good luck,
TouchNova

you can back up all your personal documents but not all the disk, so that
you may save a lot of space
if your system is damaged, you can easily install it from the original setup
disk
