Doing a "Dismiss" on Outlook Tasks should not cancel the Reminder.

Hi Microsoft !

Well, I finally had to give up on Outlook "Tasks" because of the
idiosyncrasy that requires us to mark them "Complete" to regenerate the next
occurrence. To often the Task (ie. a customer system maintenance appointment)
was blown away when I inadvertently hit the "Dismiss" button on the Reminders
window. "Dismiss" to me does not mean to kill the entire recurrence series.

Fyi - As a result of this "Dismiss" behavior, I missed a recurring Task that
told me to logon to my Small Business Server customers monthly and check that
their server backups were completed without error. One of their IT people
discoverd that the backup software had been "Paused" on 12/27/05 and no tape
backup had been done since then (even though the IT person had been rotating
the tapes out daily). Obviously this was not the impression I wanted to make
with them.

Regards,
Brcobrem

What version of Outlook?

In the Outlook 2003 reminders window if you hit Dismiss on a recurring task
it dismisses the reminder on that instance of the task. The recurring series
is not stopped.

When you mark the task complete, and the next item in the series
regenerates, it has a reminder on it.

At least that's how it works here.
