Hello John

Ensure that your web browser (Internet Explorer) is on
line. Open IE, click File and ensure that Work Off line is
not checked.

Good luck

Even with an always on DSL connnection, the program opens
the dialer. I did go to properties in that dialog and
checked never dial a connection. Check the box for your
permanent connection. The updater then found the updates
and new definitiions.

This option should be included in the setup options. It's
also interesting that a bug reporter was not included with
the beta. My sys tray fills with the program icons whuch
are removed just by placing the mouse cursor over them.

I'm experiencing the same situation. I'll let you know if
I find some answer elsewhere.

.I've now sorted the problem, you have to reconfigure
the internet security to allow the antispyware to connect
to the internet.

John - this message can be caused by connectivity issues anywhere in the
chain. It can show if the server is down, for example. It can show if you
have proxy settings not defined in the way Microsoft Antispyware expects
(and don't expect me to be able to define that better!) or if IE is set to
work offline.

Some have reported that this issue apparently clears spontaneously.
