Doesn't boot up

I have a Dell 1.7g PC with Windows XP Pro. When I turn on
it asks hit f1 to try again or f2 for setup. In setup
niether the hard or dusc drive show up... says unknown
device

Any suggestions???

Withing the past 3 months I've had to replace 5 hard
drives in DELL Optiplex's (out of 10 that were all
ordered at the same time). They all had similar symtoms
as to what you are describing, and all had Maxtor
drives. DELL could not explain it, but figured they must
have gotten a bad batch of drives.
