Does WindowsXP SP-2 Have Anti-Spyware?

G

George

I just installed WinXP Service Pack 2 (SP-2). Would appreciate insights
into...

1) Windows now has a "Windows Security Center". Does this include
anti-spyware? Does it work good? How do you turn it on?

2) When installing the update, Windows trys to DEFAULT to "Windows Security
Center", which sounds like it is trying to replace my McAfee Online as my PC
protection system. Is this right...does it push McAfee aside?

3) If I still choose McAfee anti-virus, does the anti-spyware in Windows
Security Center still work? How can I check the settings and make sure all
is ok

Thanks
George

To the best of my knowledge, it does not include any spyware protection
as such. Some of the additional security features, (and some of the old
ones used properly) do offer some protection.

I still use AdAware and Spybot.

No, there is no built-in anti-spyware capabilities endowed by the
installation of SP2. Continue using Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and
SpyBot Search & Destroy from www.safer-networking.org/.

No, the McAfee Product should remain unaffected. The Windows
Security Center does nothing but _monitor_ your PC and tell you if
you're unprotected; it does not replace any security products.

3) If I still choose McAfee anti-virus, does the anti-spyware in
Windows Security Center still work?

N/A

Windows does not include anti spywear as they are a platform and would be sued. Spywear, Word Processors, Games are all programs. Programs YOU installed. Why would MS block programs from running on your machine.
