Here's the situation:
The hard drive in the machine was full of spyware and adware. These
were removed using Spybot, Ad-Aware and Microsoft Anti-Spyware. Viruses
were removed using McAfee.
Windows was then updated using Microsoft's Windows Update site online.
The last thing that was installed before the problem, was XP Service
Pack 2.
I came back this morning to find the machine rebooting itself after the
XP splash screen. Then the hard drive went bad and started to sing the
click of death song. So I quickly Ghosted the hard drive to a good one.
However, the reboot loop still occurs after the splash screen.
Has anyone else had this type of problem after installing Service Pack
2? Does anyone else think that Service Pack 2 is causing more damage
than good?
