Does Win 2000 Pro allow definition of a 'Computer Description'?

Apologies if this is being posted in the wrong forum, but I can't see one
dedicated to Win 2000 Pro.

In my network I have a desktop running Win 2000 Pro, a laptop running Win XP
Pro and another desktop running Win 98. Both Win XP and Win 98 allow me to
identify the PC with both a 'Computer Description' and a 'Computer Name' (I
think the latter is also the NETBIOS name). However, Win 2k only seems to
permit the specification of the Computer Name. It's only a minor point, but
this prevents me from having a consistent naming convention for all the PCs
displayed in my workgroup.

Does anyone know if Win 2K supports the creation of a Computer Description,
and if so, where?

Run this command from a Command Prompt:

net config server /srvcomment:"Haggis999's PC"

The name will now be visible in "My Network Places" in the
Comments column.

Thanks. That worked perfectly (after a reboot).

HI Kardon Coupe/Hagis999,

Thank you for your help. My problem was different but your solution
worked for me also. On a XP Home system I was not able to click in the
"computer description" and my other systems XP PRO and ME coud not access
the Home system. Followed your insruction and got message that server was
not started. I answered yes to start. Now everything is working great!!!!
