Networking between Win XP Sp2 Pro with Win 2k Pro

I have the XP Sp2 Pro OS computer connected on an internal network with a Win
2k Pro OS computer. From the network neighborhood, I could see both system
(there system names). I could use the Win XP Sp2 Pro to connect and get
access to files on the Win2k Pro OS system. Just as long as the files are
shared. From the Win2k Pro OS system, I could see the Win XP Sp2 Pro on the
network, and I tried double clicking on the system name and it give the
following error: "\\D8z7Y488 is not accessible. Logon failure! User account
restriction".

The Win Xp Sp2 pro system has the account Gary Computer Adminstrator with no
password. The Win 2k Pro system has users Administrator as Administrator,
Gary As Administrator, and Guest as Guest.

Someone suggestion that I must have accounts on both system using the same
user name and password in order to work. Someone also suggested that user
accounts will not be necessary if I enable guest connections on the XP Pro
computer. I did the following: start-> run secpol.msc, Local Polices->
User Rights Assignment, Double click on both "deny access to this computer
from the network" and "deny logon locally", and remove guest from both of
these places.

Both of these two processes didn't work for me!!!! I also had the Win
Firewall off during both cases.

Someone else also suggested the ForceGuest = 0 was be set, and that was
tried. It didn't work. I did try ForceGuest = 1, and the system prompt me
for a User Name and Password.

I would like to connect to the XP system without using a User Name and
Password if possible. If not, they I will need to do this.

Can someone give me full details what I must do to get this resolved!

Hi gary,

It is true that you need to get both account available on XP and Win2000.
Then when you access the system name of one or the other computer, it has
some default shares folder, so when you doucble click on it, you already need
to ghet access rights to those share folder.

I will suggest that you verifiy permision you have on your folders, recently
I get the same problem as you mentionned and I forgot to put the permission
for browsing folders.
