It does not fix this issue. It makes a minor improvement, that's all.
File copying is still far slower than on XP.
Tell me exactly how fast Vista is copying files for you. No cheating.
A fair test would be between 3-5 GB worth of random data ,mixed
multimedia file types preferred encompassing at least 5,000 files
moved across physical drives not on the same controller. Use Windows
Explorer, move from/to folders with thumbnails enabled.
OH GOOD! Because it is ridiculously S L OW !
I haven't been able to install SP1 as yet and have been moving files back
and forth all day and my GAWD it is painfully slow!
peggy
I have not yet installed SP1, but I can say that with my original Vista I
got a goodly improvement in move/copy speed by disabling Remote Differential
Compression: Control Panel| Programs and Features| Turn Windows features on
or off| Uncheck Remote Differential Compression. Have found no adverse
impact of disabling RDC. Not sure what I will find when I go to SP1, but it
is definitely helping me now. Give it a try....
