Does F-secure 2007 conflict with ZoneAlarm 6.5

Hi.
I have downloaded a trial version of F-secure Antivirus whcih I wish to
use alongside ZoneAlarm firewall (I don't want to pay extra for
F-Secures). The installer prompted me that the two programs are
incompatible. What I want to know, do they really conflict, or is this
just a marketing ploy so F-secure make me fork out money for their
firewall?

I suggest that you disconnect from the Internet and shutdown ZA and then
try to install the software, if you can do that and the computer is
connected to the modem. If you're behind a router, then just shutdown
ZA. Sometimes installing a program will cause issues when something like
ZA is running while trying to do the install. That will happen the other
way too, when trying to install something when the AV is running.

I have never heard of a conflict such as whet you're talking about
between an AV and a personal FW.

When I was trialling the F-Secure stuff recently I had both
running together OK, as far as I recall. You may need to tell
ZA about all the bits of F that need to phone home (or your
update server) for updates.
You may need to switch ZA off during the install, as F does
things with the javascript and vbscript DLLs. If you uninstall
F, you may need to re-register those DLLs.
