does anyone know what a "~" file is?

groovster soul baby!

I keep finding these weird files that are identified only by a "~" (no
quotes, just the symbol) . Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

This happens when you make a change and/or view the Address Book. You can
either rename it with a .dbx extension or delete it. It came about from
the updates numbered: 331923 and 330994. MS is aware of the issue and are
currently working on the fix.

Why on earth would you give it a .dbx extenstion?

If anything, you'd give it a .wab extension, since it's a 'copy' of the
Address Book.

Frankly, doing anything other than [Deleting] it, is a waste of time.
