damn, I was anxiously awaiting your step by step procedure to get this
card to work perfectly.
perfectly, hell, I'll settle for working as advertised.

It is very possible that the card simply will not work due to some
hardware/software configuration quirk present in your system, but that does
not mean that no one else could get the card to work in their system. I
seriously doubt that 100% of AIW2006 purchasers are unable to use their
card's TV features.

As I said, I'd take the card off your hands if I had a system that would
take it. Maybe it would work, maybe not, but I'd be willing to try. Tossing
the card in the garbage is short-sighted, not to mention environmentally
unfriendly.

And I think T Shadow has a point - if someone did take the card and got it
working, it would probably sting you a little. I think that's part of the
reason you're tossing away functional hardware.

Your saying ATI is junk but from where I sit your abilities are in question
too and it could be other problems. I see a lot of people complaining that
are using the same equipment I have and mine works. You seem competent but
hardware failures are uncommon and the drivers seemingly installing
correctly would make the odds even less. No ones watching you to see if your
making any mistakes in the lengthy clean and reinstall procedure. It's easy
to make mistakes. 13 steps for my AIW&HDTV Wonder using 9.16

It's been a while but in the past it wasn't uncommon for numerous people to
come to the group and complain about problems with the %*/@ ATI and it would
turn out they had a VIA chipset. Took a while for VIA to fix it and even
longer for users to get the update. Probably went on for a year.

M$ DX9.0b had a problem the effected AIW PAL users. Long time to figure out.
Fortunately most people got 9.0c quickly. Problem lasted months, at least,
with everyone blaming ATI.

ATI should be berated for their crummy installation tools but it doesn't
mean it can't be done by most. Your problem could be ATI's fault but I don't
know that and neither do you. I've noticed the most popular products get the
most criticism deserved or not. If your sure you've done all you can, have
fun with your new hardware. Guess you still don't have a tuner though.
Doesn't mean everyone should give up and blame ATI..

exactly. 13 steps - and what's truly amazing is that you find this
somehow acceptable.
FWIW, been there, done that, including multiple reformats and
reinstalls of the OS over the last year.
...and it still doesn't work? - oops, I guess I must be stupid then...
or like I said earlier, I guess I just don't know the "secret
handshake"

I bought a GEForce two days ago. Took exactly TWO steps:
1) replace POS ATI card with new NVidia card
2) turn on PC

Its true of Pinnacle products. I see endless bitching aboutrStudio 9/10/11 not
working and crashing on people yet i have never had one issue with pinnacle
software on my system. Then again my video editing system doesnt have have
thetons of games and shareware and other crap most people dump onto their
general purpose pc's

It means the software works, your system has a problem. A lot of people
think you stick a card in a PC and it should work just like magic. They
don't realize motherboards have chipsets and a BIOS and all of them aren't
made by the same company. Sometimes they have problems. Other hardware and
software in your computer can cause problems. ATI isn't responsible for
everything in your computer.

Doesn't matter whether or not it's acceptable. Just the way it is. Have had
the cards for almost 4 years. Wouldn't buy any analog only card now. I
started with 9.01. Up until 9.06 using the CatUninstallier worked. Don't
recall you saying you had a problem with the video and you still don't have
a working tuner card or features that make them worthwhile and complicated.
You've gained nothing. The fact that you don't see the difference doesn't
speak well for you


I bought the AIW and HDTV Wonder at same time. Have had almost no problems
with the AIW and would only have done installations when new versions came
out if not for the HDTV Wonder. The 13 steps is only necessary when a
regular uninstall/reinstall doesn't work. Shouldn't really be necessary to
do it very often.

Really haven't had major problems with the HDTV Wonder since the 3rd version
of DTV. Have gotten the experience from getting them to work together. It's
worth some work to have a DVR and HDTV-DVR for this kind of money. I'm not
aware of any tuner cards that no one has a problems with and didn't see any
with better PQ or features when I was looking.

Only thing you've proven is you haven't been able to make it work on your
system. . It may get expensive buying new hardware every time you have a
problem.
