Hi

I am trying to access a Word Document that I have been working on all day.
But when I try to open it, from within Word or directly from the file itself
through Explorer, I get the Error message telling me the "Document name or
path is invalid".

I can search for the file and it shows up in the results, but still with the
error message when I try to open it.

I have done all the good practice by occasionally saving to my external USB
backup but get the same error message from the same file. All other files
are fine.

I hope someone can help, this file is very important, for a project I have
to deliver on Monday morning.

Thanks
John

You might want to ask this question in a MS Word newsgroup. This one is
for the XP operating system. Here is a list of all MS newsgroups:

The only other suggestion I have is to delete the normal.dot file. It
will be recreated. Maybe someone else will jump in and post to the Word
newsgroup.

I would rename Normal.dot rather than deleting it. Then you can name it
back later.

Make sure your anti-virus is turned off.

If I got this message, I'd try changing the name and path of the
file (duh). Copy it to a different directory (a primary directory,
not a directory nested ten levels down), and rename it to
something short and simple, such as "file.doc". Then see if you
can open it using Word. If not, the problem isn't with your file
name or path, it's something else.
