Document created in word processor and attached to email will not

I attached a document to my email that was created in my works word
processor. When the attachment is opened by the receiver, the following
message pops up: works cannot open "C:\documents and settings\Jerry
Rogerson\local settings\temporary internet
files\contents.IE5\3RQNWYKW\Revised_Praise_Report_from_Jerry_Rogerson[5].wps."
The file may be in use by another application, the file format may not be
supported by any of the installed converters, or the file may be corrupt

I even sent it to myself and my own computer showed the same message.
Please help me identify the changes I need to make to correct this problem.

If you are sending word process files attached to e-mail, it is far better
to send them as rich text format files (.rtf). Apart from often being
shorter, almost every word processor and version thereof can read them. The
native word processor files can often hide things you would rather not have
sent.
