document background does not appear

Word 2003: Why does a background in a template show when the .dot is opened
from File|Open but not from a shortcut (both opening in Print Layout)? It is
annoying to have to keep putting it back (opening from File|Open|Document
&... is too long-winded).

Hi Michael-

Take a look at Tools>Options>View & make sure there is a check in the box
for Background Colors & Images.

Yep - thanks thatt'll do. Still a mystery as to why the shortcut of the same
file I open at source didn't do it. Ah well!

Not absolutely certain, but i believe it is an application setting, not
something that is document-specific.
