Do you think this driver will work under Vista?

Hi,

I have a Canon BJ200 (Black and White) printer.

I have a driver that will run this printer under Win 3.11, Win 95, 98,
and NT 3.51.

Do you think this driver will run my printer under Windows Vista Home
Premium.

My reason for asking rthis question is that I need to buy a new
printer cable to match the USB connection on the tower to the parallel
connection on the printer. I don't want to buy this cable if the
driver is unlikely to drive the printer.

Thanks

Did it run under XP? I doubt it will work in Vista.

Try it and find out.. it will either work or not work.. but don't hold your
breath.. maybe Canon can help you out with a Vista compatible driver that
would cover your printer..

That printer is 10-12 years old. I would doubt that there are any Vista
drivers available.

You can get a new basic color printer that is more than comparable for about
$50-75

During the holiday sales I have seen the entry level printers on sale for
about $25.00 Heck! The ink cartridge cost more than the printer in these
cases.

The odds are that this driver will already be in Vista. I don't
have Vista yet, but I checked my XP Pro and it has the BJ200
driver. If you know someone who has Vista, ask them to start
a new printer install process up to the point of selecting a
printer to see if it's there. Vista has drivers for my 14 year old
HP Laserjet 4 which is still going strong.

It might and, if it doesn't, a generic driver might work. However, instead
of investing in a USB-to-parallel cable, why not just buy a parallel port
for your tower? I'm sure you can find one for under $10 -- a much cheaper
way to experiment.

buy a new
printer cable to match the USB connection on the tower to the parallel
connection on the printer.

If you do make sure you buy it from somewhere where you can return it
without penalty.

I've seen failure after failure to work properly with these USB to
Parallel cables.

You'd be better off buying a new printer <g> Probably not a lot more
than one of those adapters.

It doesn't look like the BJ200 driver is installed under Vista.

But a number of BJC drivers are installed.

I am wondering if one of them may be compatible?

Why do the USB to parallel cables tend to fail?

I had that printer as well. Worked perfectly for years but its time had
come so I put it to rest.
