Do I need these files.

Do I need to keep C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 files. 500 mb is a lot of
space in my backup if I don't need them.

It's a good idea to keep these files. If you ever need to replace a file,
perform a repair or uninstall Service Pack 2 you will need them. If you must
delete them, back them up to a CD first.
