DNS problem

Hello, Our church is running one Windows 2000 server to
control access to our network. We have high speed
internet connection via cable modem. We have static IP
addresses because it is not possible to disable the DHCP
on the cable modem. I have since then added a switch in
between the cable modem and the network to negate the
problem (hopefully). The server does not control internet
access as the internal hub is connected to the switch.
All of the old (Win98) computers had the internet
providers DNS servers in the network stack and it worked
well. Now I have tried to add an XP Pro computer to the
network and am running into problems. I had to enter the
network adaptor of the server into the DNS on the XP
network stack for it to see the domain. I can connect to
the network but now cannot access the internet. I have no
idea what I have to do. Any guesses? Thanks in advance.
THey want me to fix this today.

since you have a server, it is better to install an internal DNS.
