Please can you help?
I upgraded my Pc last year, however only just tried playing DVD's on it. I
can only play certain DVD's but can use music cd's cd rom's ok. I have had a
message come up saying it has detected that the DMA is turned off for one or
more recording devices attached to the system.
I have had a look with my little knowedge and found the DMA to be on, is
there more than one if so can anyone tell me any solution to this problem
thanks.

If your DVD drive is stuck in PIO mode and resetting it as described in the
above link doesn't help, just uninstall the controller and reboot, it will
reinstall itself at boot up in DMA mode.

Yes! Your problem should be in the secondary controller, the link above
should explain.
Good Luck.

I have the same problem and have followed both sets of suggestions for
re-installing DMA but nothing works.
I have now just fitted two new matched drives ( same manufacturer latest
models,) and tried again but still no luck -- secondary IDE channel still
says PIO mode even though upper box says DMA if available.
Strangely enough on using both of the suggested solutions (one at a time of
course!) on reboot the upper box always shows PIO only.
Suggestions would be welcomed.
